തിരുവനന്തപുരം: സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് സുതാര്യവും നീതിപൂര്‍വകവുമായി വോട്ടെടുപ്പ് നടന്നില്ലെന്ന് ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടി പ്രതിപക്ഷ നേതാവ് വി.ഡി സതീശന്‍ കേന്ദ്ര തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് കമ്മിഷന് പരാതി നല്‍കി. രണ്ട് വോട്ടുകള്‍ക്കിടയിലെ കാലതാമസം പല ബൂത്തുകളിലും പ്രശ്‌നങ്ങള്‍ സൃഷ്ടിച്ചു. കനത്ത ചൂടില്‍ മണിക്കൂറുകളോളം കാത്ത് നിന്നിട്ടും വോട്ട് ചെയ്യാനാകാതെ നിരവധി പേര്‍ മടങ്ങിയ സംഭവങ്ങളുണ്ടായി. ആറു മണിക്ക് മുന്‍പ് ബൂത്തില്‍ എത്തിയ നിരവധി പേര്‍ക്ക് വോട്ട് ചെയ്യാനാകാത്ത സാഹചര്യവും പല സ്ഥലങ്ങളിലുമുണ്ടായെന്നും വി.ഡി.സതീശന്‍ ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടി.
സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് ഇത്രയും മോശമായ രീതിയില്‍ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് നടന്നിട്ടില്ല. ഇരട്ട വോട്ടുകളും മരണപ്പെട്ടവരുടെ വോട്ടുകളും ഒഴിവാക്കി വോട്ടേഴ്‌സ് ലിസ്റ്റ് പരിഷ്‌ക്കരിക്കുന്നതിലും സംസ്ഥാന തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് കമ്മീഷന് പരാജയപ്പെട്ടു. തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് നടത്തിപ്പിലുണ്ടായ ഗുരുതര വീഴ്ചകളെ കുറിച്ച് സ്വതന്ത്രമായ അന്വേഷണം നടത്തണമെന്നും പ്രതിപക്ഷ നേതാവ് പരാതിയില്‍ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു.

I am writing to express my deep displeasure over the terrible mismanagement of the Lok Sabha election held in Kerala on April 26, 2024.
You would agree that the most important festival of democracy should be free, fair, and seemless in order for democracy to flourish. The convenience of the voters should have been the first priority in any election.
However, the elections in Kerala were grossly mismanaged, creating significant delays in many booths. The interval between subsequent votes in many booths saw undue delay,resulting in many voters apparently having to wait up to four and a half hours for their turn. Many voters returned after standing in line for hours at numerous booths in the blazing heat. Furthermore, some of the voters
were unable to vote despite arriving at the polling booth before 6 p.m.
The grave negligence on the part of officials was evident in many booths. Undoubtedly, the lackluster attitude of the officials has been a major cause of the drop in voter turnout.Unlike other elections, the EVM malfunction was also profound. The polling hours were not extended in booths where voting machines were found to be faulty. I am sorry to say that the election arrangements have never been so bad in recent times.
The voters list sanitization process in Kerala was also not meticulously done, as the latest voters list has numerous double votes and obsolete votes.Hence, I request your good self to initiate a comprehensive inquiry into the terrible mismanagement of the Lok Sabha election held in Kerala on April 26, 2024.
