Job Description

As an EMC Design Engineer, you will work closely with cross-functional engineers to design and validate solutions that guarantee high quality EMC performance of Apple products. You will tackle mechanical, electrical, and software challenges affecting EMC performance and deliver innovative solutions. Responsibilities: - Review mechanical designs of enclosures, connectors, and cables for EMC compliance - Review printed circuit board (PCB) schematics and layouts for emissions and immunity control - Partner with vendors on defining component specifications and validation procedures to meet EMC requirements at the system level - Prepare comprehensive test plans, supervise validation, and compile reports - Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical sources of EMC failures and identify solutions that are agreeable to cross-functional partners - Define validation requirements and train test engineers on data collection at factories and Apple labs - Review and analyze data from multiple designs, present findings to peers, partners and management and recommend design changes

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant engineering degree
  • 3-5+ years relevant experience
  • Experience with Radio Frequency (RF) and/or EMC measurement equipment
  • Experience with layout and schematic review tools such as Allego, Mentor Graphics, and Altium Designer
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with other engineers and cross-functional partners
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Willing and able to support occasional international travel to vendors and factory sites

Key Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters or PhD in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in electromagnetic fields and/or applications
  • Extensive experience in one of the following fields: EMC, ESD, RF/Antenna, Signal Integrity and Power Integrity
  • In-depth knowledge of worldwide EMC regulations, standards, and test methods
  • Experience with electromagnetic modeling and simulation tools such as CST, HFSS, ADS, and PowerSI
  • Experience with Matlab and scripting for test automation and data analysis

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
