Job Description
We are looking for a creative and collaborative Organizer to join the Common Cause Indiana team. This is a key role supporting our organizing and outreach programs and promoting civic engagement within communities throughout the state.
This is a full-time, temporary role that will start on January 1, 2025 and end on December 31, 2025 (with a possibility to extend). This role will report to the Executive Director, Indiana, and is based in Central Indiana (Indianapolis and the doughnut counties) with an expectation to travel around the state up to two days per week.
Responsibilities
- Support activities to grow, diversify, and engage our base of supporters
- Support engaging, nonpartisan education and outreach activities to drive engagement among new and existing members and expand awareness of our work
- Support our work on events, campaigns, and projects including regional membership meetings
- Collaborate with other staff to promote activities to our members via social media and other communication channels
- Support the development of compelling communications and other materials for our work
- Support our election protection activities in Indiana
- Act as a representative for Common Cause
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners and members
- Attend coalition meetings and other events
- Support our research and advocacy efforts across the state
- Assist with research and advocacy efforts on issues such as local redistricting reform, legislative ethics reform, and others
- Stay up-to-speed on legislative developments on our issues
- Collaborate with volunteers and interns to support our work
- Support with administrative tasks as needed
- Other duties as assigned

The following is required:
- Ability to travel 1-2 times per year in the US for team and/or all staff retreats, and ability to travel to various locations around Indiana up to two days per week
- Ability to work in-person in the state legislature up to 10% of the time
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, especially during election season
- Per our nonpartisan policy, Common Cause staff members may not currently be in elected office (or running for office); on the Steering Committee or Finance Committee for any political candidate; or affiliated with the leadership of a political party
Additional information about this role:
- This position is included in a union-represented collective bargaining unit and specific employment terms and conditions are subject to collective bargaining negotiations.

$62,000 - $78,000 a year
In order to ensure greater equity and transparency as an organization, Common Cause sets salary ranges consistently based on job responsibilities, and we determine salary for each staff member based on relevant years of experience (you can read more about our approach to compensation here, including where we offer geographical adjustments). For these reasons, we do not negotiate on our salary ranges or our specific salary offers.
