JOB SUMMARY AND PURPOSE

The HR Specialist is part of the team that develops and executes methods of identifying, sourcing, assessing and attracting top talent for the organization. This position performs full cycle recruitment and has the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the business. The ideal individual for this role should possess a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, strong knowledge of labor regulations and HR practices, strategic thinking abilities, strong organizational skills, and excellent interpersonal skills. The HR Specialist should improve and support HR processes, implement strategies that support business growth, measure and help improve morale, employee retention, and job satisfaction, attract the best recruits, and promote the organization's values. They continuously seek ways to innovate and improve talent development processes and programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Recruitment and Selection – Responsible for process of attracting, evaluating, interviewing and hiring of appropriate talent to meet the organization’s staffing needs

  • Maintains a current knowledge of recruiting needs and relevant legislative
  • Manage full life cycle of recruiting process from specification through the employment offer. (posting job ads, sourcing, interviewing, screening, presenting potential candidates to Hiring Managers, scheduling interviews, background checks, assessments, offer letter, and various other recruiting activities)
  • Sourcing of Candidates – conducts web, Job Board, Job Fairs, and LinkedIn searches for potential job applicants
  • Proactively develops and maintains candidate community for current and future positions
  • Influence industry-specific partnerships for networking purposes.
  • Evaluate and identify areas within current sourcing model to achieve efficiency and productivity.
  • Maintains regular and timely communication with candidates and hiring managers to ensure proper applicant follow and quick follow-up.
  • Manage and promote best-practice recruiting methods
  • Maintains accurate and organized documentation of all applicant activities and communication into Applicant Tracking System
  • Build internship program to prepare early career insurance individuals

Onboarding and Offboarding– Coordinates and organizes the onboarding and offboarding process.

  • Develops and communicates onboarding plan for new team members with the Conner team
  • Creates a welcoming environment for new employees
  • Adds new hire to various Conner platforms – payroll, wellness, etc.
  • Helps to set up orientation meetings and works with hiring team to develop training plan
  • Perform training on Conner benefits, 401k, wellness, role, etc.
  • Schedules and organizes travel for remote new hires.
  • Manages offboarding process with former employees (exit interviews; termination letter, severance agreement, etc.)
  • Continuously improve onboarding and offboarding procedures by adapting and leveraging the data we collect in these processes.

Talent Management – Supporting, developing, retaining, and engaging a workforce by creating, implementing and maintaining talent management solutions (employee engagement, learning and development, assessment and planning)

  • Responsible for executing the performance management process (launch reviews, set up meetings)
  • Review, manage and maintain accurate job descriptions for all positions with the organization
  • Performs audits of Goals within Talent Management system
  • Address performance issues and assist in developing performance improvement plans
  • Manages talent management tools and systems including development, implementation, analysis and reporting
  • Assist with execution on learning management platform
  • Assists in the implementation of new tools, processes and systems.
  • Create training programs to promote continuous improvement and learning
  • Conducts thorough investigations into employee complaints and concerns, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and policies

HR Compliance – Maintain compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements

  • Poster compliance
  • Prepare for present and upcoming regulatory changes that affect our Conner Insurance
  • Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures
  • Respond to employment verification requests and state unemployment requests.
  • Assist with administration of employee leave of absences.

Employee Relations – Serves and supports the needs of the Conner team.

  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance employee engagement and retention.
  • Foster a positive company culture by partnering with leadership to support company core values and culture
  • Assists with Wellness Program Management
  • Helps with planning main company events

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Assist with special projects, reports and activities, and other duties as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 years of experience in Human Resources
  • Working knowledge of government laws, regulations and legal decisions affecting employment

SKILLS:

  • Strong knowledge of talent management practices, including recruitment, development and performance management
  • Proficient in HR software and talent management systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products and Adobe Acrobat
  • Professional telephone skills and etiquette
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to perform duties in a high-pressured, fast-paced environment
  • High degree of organizational skills
  • Initiative and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and remain flexible
  • Self-motivated and able to work both independently with limited supervision and within a team
  • Ability to think independently and critically
  • Ability to analyze data and use insights to drive decision-making
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of employees
