GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide asynchronous instruction in C hairside Dental Assisting (DAS106)to dental assisting students during the academic year 2024-2025.  This 4-credit course provides an orientation to the role of the dental assistant in dental practice.  The concepts of dentistry and chairside assisting procedures commonly used in a dental office are introduced.  Focus is given to infection control practices, the types of procedures performed in all areas of dentistry, the theory behind these procedures, along with the materials and instruments used for the procedures. 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

1. Provide instruction in both traditional and non-traditional learning modes
2. Select and develop appropriate materials and technology for class use
3. Assess student progress related to defined student outcomes
4. Maintain appropriate attendance and learner records

Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

1. Bachelor's degree in dental sciences, education or related field
2. Demonstrate experience with asynchronous instruction
3. Teaching experience at the college level or equivalent
4. Ability to create an environment that supports student learning and success

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Prior Chairside Dental Assisting teaching experience in a community college setting
2. Evidence of teaching methodology, experience with learning management systems such as Moodle

Additional Information:

COMPENSATION :  Anticipated starting salary  - Step 1 DCE pay scale; part-time, non-benefited MCCC Unit position.  This position is supported by the U.S. Department of Education Congressionally Funded Community Projects Program (CFCP), grant award (# P116Z230077).
